Flex Your Creative Muscles: Start Writing

Writing is such a powerful tool that has been used for centuries to communicate ideas and share stories of any kind, including history. Didn’t think of it like that? No matter if it comes in the form of handwriting or typing, it offers a channel to express yourself, your knowledge, and your creativity.

One of the biggest advantages of writing is that you can explore the deepest thoughts, feelings, and desires, and use these insights to improve your communication skills and gain a better understanding of yourself.
Remember how everybody is writing goals at the beginning of the New Year? When you write it down, it gets real, it is shareable and a mirror of your mind and soul. It makes you accountable for the promise you made to yourself.

The great thing is that you can always get back to it and reflect on your evolution:

  • Follow up on making your dreams come true
  • See how your language improved
  • Add knowledge and repurpose your content over time

I find many good points in simply taking time to write a little something every day, but I found some specific facts that I believe to be the most powerful ones that easily apply to everybody.

Writing is THERAPY

Are you sometimes feeling anxious, stressed, or even overwhelmed? If Writing can be a great way to work through your emotions and clear your mind. You can be journaling, or writing a blog post, putting your thoughts into words can help you process your feelings and gain perspective on them. On top of that, studies have shown that writing can have a positive effect on your mood, reduce stress levels, and even boost your immune system. It is all about balancing your mind.

Writing about your experiences and struggles can be a powerful way to connect with your audience and show them that you’re a real person with real challenges. By sharing your vulnerability and authenticity, you can build trust and credibility with your readers or clients. This mostly applies to personal branding, but of course, can be adapted to businesses. Building communities is about sharing your inner self, identifying with others, and networking; writing is a great tool to start.

Communication Skills Improvement

The most important skill of a copywriter is to communicate clearly and effectively. But even if you’re not a professional writer, practicing your writing skills can have a positive impact on your verbal communication as well. Writing requires you to think critically about your ideas, organize your thoughts logically, and choose your words carefully — all skills that translate well to speaking and presenting. You might find yourself over time having a clearer perspective upon experiences in your life. Expressing your ideas would come more naturally and logically to others.

Talking about personal branding, being a clear and articulate communicator is essential to build a strong reputation and connecting with your audience. The ability to communicate effectively can set you apart from your competitors and make you more appealing to potential clients or customers. Who knows? Maybe by creating a habit of writing every day you can draw a better image of why people shall choose you over somebody else.

Writing enriches creativity and innovation

If you ever tried it, at school, by passion, or from a business perspective, writing can be a great way to flex your creative muscles and explore new ideas. Doesn’t matter what kind of writing you do, the act of creating something from nothing can be so rewarding and fulfilling.

On top of that, here is a secret: the more you write, the more your creative skills will develop and grow.

Being known as a creative thinker and innovator can be a huge asset in today’s competitive marketplace. In the rush times, we are living nowadays, people lose the drive and skills of being creative, think outside of the box, and escape their comfort zone. Try to keep your way of thinking as wide and open as possible, let your ideas flourish in your writing, and do not limit yourself.

Goals and Values

Writing forces you to think deeply about your inner self, values, and goals. Whether you’re writing a business plan or a goal of implementing better habits for your health (like running, and eating clean), the act of putting your thoughts into words can help you find the best solutions and paths to follow. On top of that, writing down your goals and aspirations can be a powerful motivator and reminder of what you’re working towards.

Personal branding

People want to hear authentic stories. Even though we tend to see more and more videos online rather than text, articles, and posts that contain text can help connect to your audience. Whether you’re writing blog posts, books, or social media updates, the more you write, the more opportunities you have.

Try challenging yourself to write at least 15–20 rows per day on something that you are passionate about. See where it takes you and what impact it has on your well-being, business, or plans.

What could go wrong?
..You could get more clarity on your ideas and thoughts
..You could let out your feelings — the good and the bad ones
..You could start building an effective plan
..You could start liking it.
..Did you try it? Please, share your experience below!
